Completing the Shanty
We finished the popup shanty today. Alice and Michael came over this afternoon and we raised the front piece over the front porch. That is a big job done, hooray!
Dinner, Drinks, and Drawing on Walls
Tonight was our farewell party for the old house. We invited friends over and provided food, beverages, markers, crayons and paint for everyone. Fun was had.
Raising the Shanty
Today I worked with my friend, Jacob, to raise the shelter over our popup camper. In theory, this will protect the tents from falling pinecones and branches. Since I am recycling parts of the deck to build it, I have named it the Shanty.
Taking the Deck Apart
I spent Sunday and Monday of this Labor Day weekend taking apart our back deck. I will use the wood to build a protective cover over our popup camper.
Moving the Heavy Stuff
Labor Day weekend is going to be a labor-filled weekend for us. Today we moved the majority of our furniture–all the largest, heaviest pieces–to storage. Many thanks to Alice, Jacob, and Michael who’s help made it possible to knock out all the heavy lifting in one day.
We celebrated this big move with some good food and laughs tonight at Los Loros with Jacob, Christa, and Hana.

Positioning the Popup Camper
Much like our decision to make use of the RV during renovation, we have decided to take advantage of our popup camper as well. We will set it up in the backyard and use it for hanging out, homework, and breathing room when we are at home. This should basically double our living space.
Today I moved the popup down into the yard and the girls all helped me position it where it will stay for the next several months.
Electrician & Plumber
Today we met our electrician, Eric, and our plumber, Matthew, for the renovation.
Back to Atlanta
We returned to Atlanta last night.
We have much to do. Today we rented a storage unit; now we have to finish packing everything up and somehow cram our entire house into it. We selected John to be our builder; now we have to work out the budget with John and get our home improvement loan in place.
Downtime with Family in Greenlake, WI
We took a long weekend off to hang out at a lake with family. We floated, snorkeled, biked, lazed, read, and played lots of games.
